The MHA Team has been providing quality, personalized accounting, tax and financial guidance to individuals and businesses for more than 20 years. Our expertise ranges from basic tax management and accounting services to more in-depth services such as audits, financial statements, and financial planning.
Our mission is to help clients maintain financial viability in the present while taking a proactive approach to achieve future goals. This requires open communication to reach an understanding of our clients’ needs through research and sound analysis. McNurlin, Hitchcock & Associates, P.C. is dedicated to meeting these goals with high standards of excellence and professionalism.

The Team
KIM HITCHCOCK
CPA | President & CEOKim grew up and began her career as a CPA in Maryland, living on both sides of the Bay Bridge. After getting married in 1998, Kim and her husband moved to Alaska where Kim worked for KPMG LLP. Working as a Tax Manager with KPMG provided invaluable experience from the team of experts in that firm, and Kim gained an expertise in tax serving individuals, small businesses and nonprofit organizations.
Kim and her family moved to Colorado in 2007 where she spent two years working as a Senior Tax Analyst in the manufacturing industry before joining Don McNurlin and forming what is now McNurlin, Hitchcock & Associates, P.C. In 2018, Don McNurlin retired, and she took over as the sole owner of the business. When not in the office, Kim enjoys travelling, playing tennis, mountain biking, and spending time with her husband and daughter.
ERIC CRENNEN
CPA | AUDIT AND ACCOUNTING PARTNEREric has 11 years of experience in the auditing field. He received his CPA license in 2007 and began his career at Deloitte. Eric transitioned into a small CPA firm where he became the audit manager in 2013. He has handled a variety of small to mid-sized audits in both the for-profit and not-for-profit areas. In 2018, Eric decided to join McNurlin, Hitchcock & Associates, P.C. to help the growing audit practice. Eric is a Denver native and graduated with honors from Colorado State University.
DAVID REED
CPA | TAX DIRECTORDavid Reed is the Tax Manager for the firm. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with over 25 years of experience in public accounting and various industry roles in corporate tax departments. He specializes in many areas of taxation including corporations, partnerships and individuals. He also provides tax planning and strategy for business owners and individuals to minimize federal, state and local taxes working within the current tax code.
David moved to Denver from the Chicago area and graduated from the University of Denver with a B.S. in business administration. David continued his advanced education by taking the accounting and tax courses required to sit for and pass the CPA exam, becoming a licensed CPA in 1992.
David thoroughly enjoys the active Colorado lifestyle through biking, hiking, skiing (on and off-piste) and is always on the lookout for new adventures.
JENNIFER HELD
FIRM ADMINISTRATORJennifer comes to us after retiring from thirty-one years of federal service. She moved to Colorado in 2010 from the Washington DC area where she grew up. She brings with her experience in project and program management. When she is not at MHA, she is a writer and a student of integrative wellness and online course creation. She enjoys spending time with her family and her eleven-year-old German Shepherd.

BOBBI BLAKLEY
FRONT DESK RECEPTIONISTBobbi is the firm administrator and has worked at McNurlin, Hitchcock & Associates, P.C. for more than 20 years. She is responsible for client relations, including billing and collections, personnel matters and all office administration.
Her skill at handling so many jobs comes from experience. in previous positions, Bobbi has been a bookkeeper, accounting clerk, secretary and clerical support. She has an Associate Degree in Accounting from Midlands Technical College in Columbia, SC.
KRISTI BREEDLOVE
FRONT DESK RECEPTIONISTKristi is the firm’s front desk receptionist. She is responsible for greeting and assisting clients in person and over the phone. She is a great asset to have as she also assists our tax admin team. Originally from Florida, she relocated to Indiana for many years. She and her family recently moved to Colorado. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, cooking, and spending time with her family and cat.
STEPHEN P. KESSLER
CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTSteve is a full time accountant for McNurlin, Hitchcock & Associates, P.C. Steve specializes in all areas of taxation including individuals, partnerships (LLCs), corporations, trusts, estates, and tax planning. He also has experience in audits, reviews, compilations, and financial statement preparation. He has vast experience with small to medium size businesses.
Steve has over 30 years of experience in public and private accounting. He has served as controller of three medium sized businesses (revenues from 10 million to 20 million a year) and worked with three public accounting firms.
Steve graduated from the University of Denver with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Accountancy. He is a member of the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American institute of Certified Public Accountants.
JUSTIN ANDRADE
TAX ACCOUNTANTJustin is a full-time tax accountant with the firm. He has lived in Colorado his entire life and even graduated from Adams State University in southern Colorado. In his free time, Justin enjoys watching sports and spending time with his family and friends.

SAMUEL SPRING
TAX ACCOUNTANTSam grew up in Colorado and loves the outdoors and winter sports. He graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 2023 with a degree in Accounting and Finance. He joined the tax team in 2023 and he is excited to work with such a great organization.
TAEGAN COLLEY
ACCOUNTING AND TAX SUPERVISORTaegen is our tax supervisor at McNurlin, Hitchcock & Associates. She graduated from Texas Tech University in 2018 with a Bachelor’s in accounting. She then continued on and graduated from Texas A&M University with a Master of Science in Accounting degree. She has 7 years of accounting experience and continues to advance in her profession as she is preparing herself for the CPA exam. She works remotely from Texas where she also enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and on-the-way daughter.
MATTHEW STAGG
TAX ACCOUNTANTMatt is a full-time Tax Accountant with the firm. He graduated from the Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2022. Matt has since been preparing to take the CPA exam and get his Master of Accountancy Degree. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, hiking, camping, and relaxing with his friends and family.
ERIN BARNETT
SEASONAL TAX ACCOUNTANTErin Stange Barnett has worked in the Tax Department for the past five tax seasons and brings with her over 20 years of experience in tax and accounting. Her taxation specialties include partnerships, corporations and individuals. Erin has been a Certified Public Accountant in Colorado since 1997. She received her M.S. in Business Administration from Colorado State University in May 2000. Erin stays active with a variety of interests including yoga, CrossFit, skiing, tennis and golf.
MAJED ALGHAMDI
SENIOR AUDIT ACCOUNTANTMajed is originally from Saudi Arabia. He came to the United Sated to study English, and thereafter he earned his Business Bachelor’s Degree California State University Dominguez Hills, with concentration in accounting, and minor in information systems. He received his CPA license in 2021. While going to college, he joined Frishta Amala CPA and Tax Services, a local small firm in Los Angeles, CA, as a Client Relations Administrator. This firm focuses on federal, state, county, and local IRS compliance audits, and other governmental related compliance issues. The governmental professional experience gained at this firm served as steppingstone to secure a job as a Senior Auditor at Davis Farr, a Certified Public Accountants, a local small firm in Irvine, CA. This firm conducts nonprofit and governmental audits. Majed has attained vast and invaluable expertise from the most senior audit personnel at these firms. In late 2022, Majed decided to join McNurlin, Hitchcock & Associates, P.C. He enjoys cooking, biking, playing soccer, traveling. and spending time with family, family cat, and friends.
CHRISTINE SILVESTRONE
AUDIT ACCOUNTANTChristine has lived in Colorado since 2013 and is originally from Montana. She attended Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction and is now a part of the auditing department at McNurlin, Hitchcock & Associates, P.C. In her free time she likes to play soccer, hike, camp, and do pretty much anything that involves the outdoors and physical activity.

TAYLOR HILTON
ACCOUNTANTTaylor Hilton recently graduated from Ashford University with his master’s in Accounting. Taylor will be using his education to work as a staff accountant for McNurlin, Hitchcock & Associates, P.C. He is originally from South Dakota and moved to Denver about seven years ago. He enjoys following Denver’s professional sports teams and loves getting outside. In his off time, he enjoys hiking, trail-running and whatever else will get him into the mountains. He is excited to be a part of the team and see what he can contribute to the business.
RYAN WEIGEL
AUDIT STAFF ACCOUNTANTRyan moved to Colorado in 2014 after attending the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. He has been a part of the audit staff at McNurlin, Hitchcock & Associates, P.C. since 2021, where he hopes to contribute to an already superlative group of individuals. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys staying active, whether it’s biking around town or taking his cat for a walk.
CHIEH AN SILVERSTRONE
AUDIT ACCOUNTANTChieh An is an audit accountant with McNurlin, Hitchcock & Associates. She is originally from Taiwan. She graduated in 2010 from The Aletheia University in Taiwan. She has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and majors in accounting. She plans to further her profession and take her CPA exams. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, and anything involving the outdoors such as hiking and camping.
KAREN PADILLA
STAFF ACCOUNTANTKaren is a staff accountant with the firm. She is originally from Evergreen, CO. She graduated from the University of Colorado with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish. She recently moved back to Colorado from Santa Fe. She has 15 years of accounting experience. In her spare time, she enjoys observing wildlife and reading.
DON M. MCNURLIN
CPA - FOUNDING MEMBERDon McNurlin is the founding owner of the Firm. He started his own practice in 1987 as a Certified Public Accountant; in 1990 this practice merged with M. James Sealock. In June 1993, the merger was dissolved and what is now McNurlin, Hitchcock & Associates, P.C. was formed. In April 2019, Don officially retired. We are proud to carry his name forward.
Don spent four years as treasurer of Blackgold Energy Resources Inc., an oil and production company, responsible for financial and tax matters for Blackgold and several affiliated companies. Prior to that, he worked for five years in the audit department of Fox & Co., a national CPA firm where he audited both public and private companies.
Don graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Denver with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He holds a CPA certificate in Colorado and is an active member of the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He has also participated in a number of organizations devoted to small businesses and non-profits and has volunteered in numerous youth athletic endeavors. Even though Don retired earlier in 2019 he is still available as a consultant anytime we need him.
